American Forests

Trees have an irreplaceable role in maintaining the health of our ecosystems and the atmosphere. While humans and other animals breathe oxygen and exude the carbon dioxide, trees and other plants capture and store carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen in the air. Ultimately, trees not only help to maintain our lungs filled with oxygen, but play a crucial role in the reduction of harmful emissions of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Indeed, forests are the largest forms of carbon sinks, or storage in the United States. This is part of the reason why our atmosphere has been so much in recent years: million trees have been cleared with no replacement planted.It is estimated that deforestation, especially tropical forests is responsible for about one-fifth of global emissions of carbon dioxide by humaines.Dans all activities, planting trees is a cheaper and more effective means to remove excess carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.


American forests is a world leader in planting trees for environmental restoration, a pioneer in the science and practice of urban forestry and a primary Communicator of the benefits of trees and forests.


American forests is on action and its major campaigns to focus on measures for the health of ecosystems. Today, primary campaigns organization are "Tree-planting for environmental restoration" and "Reversing the National Urban Tree deficit," which encourage people to improve rural, suburban and urban ecosystems by planting and caring for trees which provide important environmental and economic benefits, including clean water, clean air and wildlife habitat.


20 Years the Organization has planted more than 25 million trees and plant a tree estimated 4 million this year alone!


For 70 years, American forests has also run and maintained national register of big trees, documenting the most important over 800 species of trees from around the country.Topping the list as the largest tree in the United States is the imposing giant Sequoia "General Sherman", which is a row size of 1 020 inch azimuth and stands 274 feet tall .the ' latest, most comprehensive and up-to-date registry Edition will be published in the spring of 2010.
